Dr. Ifunanya Maduekwe, designated co-chair of the Intergovernmental Committee for the National Carbon Market Activation Plan (NCMAP), brings with her over 15 years of expertise in climate policy development and project implementation. Holder of a doctorate in law from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, she embodies Nigeria’s commitment to the transition to renewable energy.

Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Shelleng, recently appointed Special Assistant to the President in charge of Climate Finance and Stakeholder Engagement, brings diverse experience within leading financial institutions. With an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, his mission will be to foster relationships with stakeholders and promote the financing of climate projects.

Finally, Mr. Olamide Fagbuji, appointed Special Assistant to the President in charge of Technology and Climate Operations, will bring his expertise in public policy analysis, as an IT scientist. His mission will be to oversee the digitalization of procurement processes and the optimization of interdepartmental procedures, thus offering an innovative approach to the fight against climate change.

These appointments, approved by the President with immediate effect, demonstrate Nigeria’s commitment to tackling environmental challenges and creating a sustainable future for future generations.
