Fatshimétrie, a political and social news magazine, echoes a heated controversy within the pro-democracy coalition following the recent declarations of Comrade Jack Thomas. The latter reacted strongly to Okocha’s remarks regarding the Rivers State government.
In a public statement issued on Thursday, June 6, the coalition accused Okocha of spreading misleading information regarding projects inherited by the state administration. According to the coalition chairman, the Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara, has made considerable strides in his first year in office.
The coalition expressed astonishment at Okocha’s characterization of Fubara’s administration as a government in intensive care. Members of the coalition have refuted the claims of the tormented Rivers APC Chairman, maintaining that Governor Fubara failed to recognize former Governor Nyesom Wike for the projects he inherited.
They highlighted Governor Fubara’s statement while reviewing his first year in office at a public meeting in Port Harcourt last week. Fubara had explicitly mentioned that his administration had taken over 34 unfinished road projects worth over ₦225.279 billion across 13 municipalities.
Fubara had also revealed that his administration had completed 12 of these legacy projects, with the rest still ongoing. The coalition stressed the need for Okocha to clearly understand that the projects mentioned by Fubara as having been inherited and completed were initiated by his predecessors, and not by his own administration.
Fatshimétrie will continue to carefully follow political developments in Rivers State and inform its readers of these events.
