The event organized by the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD) in Abuja on June 1, 2024 was marked by the intervention of the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi. The celebration of the heroes of the 2023 elections was an opportunity for him to address the audience, emphasizing the importance of unity and the desire for change among Nigerians.
Represented by the Labor Party’s Anambra State governorship aspirant, Valentine Ozigbo, Peter Obi stressed that his participation in the 2023 elections was not just a religious or tribal issue, but a real project for the whole of Nigeria. He noted the high rate of voter participation, proof according to him of the weariness of Nigerians with the old political regime and their ardent desire to see the emergence of a new era in the country.
The national leader of the Workers’ Party stressed the need for Nigerians to unite and raise their voice with one voice against bad governance and incompetent leaders. He said: “It is high time Nigerians came together and spoke with one voice, regardless of tribe, language or religion. The 2023 elections were not just a Christian or Igbo project, but a project for the whole nation.”
The presence of eminent personalities such as former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Pa Ayo Adebanjo and others was noted by Peter Obi, who said he was happy to see these figures uniting for a common goal. He highlighted this momentum of unity and commitment to a better Nigeria.
In conclusion, Peter Obi’s intervention at this event highlighted the importance of collaboration and collective determination to overcome the challenges facing Nigeria. It is through unity and solidarity that the country can truly move forward towards a more promising and harmonious future for all its citizens.
