Tout-Puissant Mazembe wins the 29th edition of the National Football League: A look back at a resounding victory

Tout-Puissant Mazembe, a legendary Congolese football team, has once again proven its supremacy by winning the 29th edition of the National Football League during the 2023-2024 season. With 32 points on the clock at the end of the play-offs, the Ravens added a 20th star to their list, to the cheers of their loyal audience.

Mazembe’s consecration was marked by a clear 3-1 victory against the Eagles of Congo in the last match in Kamalondo. This performance allowed them to surpass the only defeat of the season against Maniema Union, showing their consistency and determination throughout the championship.

One of the highlights of this season was the exceptional performance of Malian striker Filly Traoré, who scored 25 goals, shattering the previous record held by Jackson Muleka and Jean-Marc Makusu. His offensive contribution was crucial for the team and contributed greatly to the final victory.

In the final ranking, Mazembe rose to the top, closely followed by Maniema Union in second place and Lupopo in third. This trio will represent the Democratic Republic of Congo in the CAF interclub competitions for the following season.

As national champions, Mazembe and Maniema Union will have the honor of defending the Congolese colors in the CAF Champions League, while Lupopo will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup alongside the future Cup winner of the Congo.

This new recognition for Mazembe illustrates not only the team’s domination on the national scene, but also its ability to compete with the best African clubs. The enthusiasm of the supporters, the quality of the game and the exceptional individual performances make this victory an unforgettable moment for Congolese football. Mazembe thus continues to write his legend and inspire a whole generation of players and football fans in Africa and beyond.
