Memorable inauguration in Nigeria: Tinubu sends a message of hope

The inauguration ceremony in Nigeria was marked by President Tinubu’s speech to an enthusiastic crowd. In his address, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to placing the welfare of Nigerians at the heart of its national development agenda.

He also stressed his desire to build a nation where no one is left behind, insisting that his administration views government as a continuous process.

“The best way to achieve greatness is to look forward, strive for exceptional results, and not be stopped by obstacles. We must see opportunities in obstacles and seize them,” said President.

Highlighting ongoing investments in essential services, the President affirmed that his administration had laid the foundations for economic growth, social progress and an improvement in the quality of life for the inhabitants of the Territory of the Federal Capital.

He said the completion of the Wuye project would significantly improve traffic flow in and around the district.

“This infrastructure enhances the security of our people, placing them at the center of our development efforts, which is the essence of democracy. Our determination to succeed and bring happiness to the teeming population, as well as promote prosperity and tangible value to our people is the main objective of this government,” the President added.

Tinubu, while hailing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his team for completing a project initially started in 2009, expressed his willingness to make personal sacrifices for the welfare and prosperity of Nigerians.

“Your resilience, patience and unwavering support have been essential in making this possible. The projects and results are not random accidents. They are the result of thoughtful planning and execution,” the President emphasized.

In his speech, Wike said the people of the Federal Capital Territory had lost hope on the completion of the interconnection bridge linking Wuye and Wuse districts, but now they have a reason to rejoice.

“He stressed that the FCT is operating because of the significant support of the President. This project, initially awarded in 2009 at a cost of N34 billion, was revised to N74 billion before this administration took office on the 29th. May 2023,” declared the Minister.

Highlighting the 15 years of struggle to complete the bridge and the difficulties faced by residents and businesses during this period, Wike said: “Thanks to the determination of the President, we have given hope with the completion of this project.”

The minister also affirmed that the diversity of projects inaugurated in the FCT during Tinubu’s first anniversary would not have been possible without the exclusion of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

“Getting out of the TSA makes these achievements possible. I sincerely thank you, Mr. President, for this endorsement,” Wike concluded.

This inauguration symbolizes a new chapter in Nigeria’s development, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens and building a better future for all.
