Inauguration of judges strengthens judicial excellence in Lagos

The inauguration of the judges by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu into the Fatshimetry, located in Alausa, Ikeja, marked a crucial moment for the judicial administration in the state. The governor stressed the importance of devotion to the administration of justice and commended judges for their vital role in this process.

With a total of 37 judges now sworn in under the Sanwo-Olu administration, the Lagos Judiciary continues its commitment to excellence. The governor stressed that these appointments are not just formalities, but concrete evidence of the quality of the state’s judicial system. He also expressed gratitude to the Lagos judiciary for maintaining high quality standards and continuing to move towards global best practices.

The newly sworn-in judges were selected from more than 300 applicants based on their brilliance and dedication. The governor stressed the importance of hard work and devotion to the mission of delivering fair justice to all. He also insisted that families and friends of judges should respect the independence of the judiciary and not interfere in court matters.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kazeem Alogba, has urged the new judges to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and continue to work with integrity. He noted the governor’s full support for the judiciary and emphasized the state’s commitment to the separation of powers.

Among the new judges sworn in are eminent professionals such as Justices Fimisola Azeez, Alfred George, Yewande Badejo-Okusanya, Oyeladun Layinka, Adenike Shonubi, Tunde Sunmonu and Russell Adewale. Their expertise and commitment to justice promise to further strengthen the justice system in Lagos and ensure fairness for all citizens.
