A new government for the DRC: Félix Tshisekedi launches his mission for change

In the year 2024, the political scene of the Democratic Republic of Congo is the scene of a major political event: the formation of the new mission government led by President Félix Tshisekedi. After a first term which left room for divided opinions regarding the performance of the administration in place, the president decided to set up a team of 54 members with the objective of realizing his vision for the country.

This government, called the “Suminwa government”, is made up of personalities chosen according to criteria of competence and probity, according to the director of the communications unit of the presidency, Erik Nyundu Kibambe. Emphasis is placed on the need to consolidate the progress made during President Tshisekedi’s first term, particularly in the areas of security, social and economic progress.

The clear missions and commitments made by the Head of State during his electoral campaign in December 2023 are at the heart of this new government. These include creating millions of jobs, protecting the purchasing power of citizens, ensuring security for all, diversifying the economy, improving access to basic services and strengthening public services.

The composition of the government is balanced, with the presence of 17 women among the 54 members. This diversity reflects President Tshisekedi’s commitment to gender equality and the representativeness of Congolese society. Before taking office, this new government must still receive the approval of the National Assembly which will have to validate its program. A crucial step which will allow us to measure the confidence placed in this team and its projects for the future of the country.

In conclusion, this mission government led by Félix Tshisekedi represents a new beginning for the DRC. The challenges awaiting this team are numerous, but the ambitions displayed suggest a better future for the country. It remains to be seen whether the promises will be kept and whether the Congolese population will really be able to benefit from the fruits of these actions.
