The quest for peace in Sudan: the Egyptian initiative for internal reconciliation

Fatshimetrie, May 28 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Egypt will host a conference at the end of June bringing together all Sudanese civilian political forces, in the presence of relevant regional and international partners.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the conference aims to reach consensus among different Sudanese civil political forces on ways to build a comprehensive and lasting peace through a Sudanese national dialogue respecting the principles of sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, as well as respect for non-interference in its internal affairs.

The statement stressed that the conference comes within the framework of Egypt’s desire to stop the ongoing war in Sudan and address its dangerous repercussions on the Sudanese population and the security and stability of the region, particularly in neighboring countries.
