The law firm recently issued the notice in a letter addressed to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court (FHC) and signed by a partner, C.J. Caleb.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the letter, dated and filed on May 23, and seen last Sunday, was titled: “Re: Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/128/2024 – Request for Medical Treatment for Tigran Gambrayan at Nizamiye Hospital.”
Caleb said: “We continue to act as counsel to Mr. Tigran Gambaryan, the 2nd defendant in the mentioned suit pending before the Honorable Justice E. Nwite sitting in Court 9 of the Federal High Court, Abuja. ”
He added that Gambaryan, the cryptocurrency platform’s Financial Crimes Compliance Officer, fell ill last Wednesday in prison and was given “intravenous treatment for malaria” by medical staff.
“In view of these facts, we respectfully request that the petitioner be transferred to Nizayime Hospital, Abuja, to receive comprehensive diagnosis and treatment with a view to preserving his life.”
The letter comes six days after Justice Emeka Nwite of the FHC refused to grant Gambaryan’s bail application made by a defense team lawyer, Mark Mordi, SAN.
