NAFDAC crackdown operation: Fight against the sale of counterfeit cosmetics in Garki and Wuse

NAFDAC’s crackdown on the sale of counterfeit goods is gaining momentum in Garki and Wuse, two key areas where suspects were recently apprehended. This initiative aims to eradicate the circulation of poor quality products on the market, particularly counterfeit cosmetics.

Fatshimetrie closely followed this operation and questioned those responsible about the measures taken to effectively combat this scourge. Embugushiki-Musa Godiya, Head of Investigations and Enforcement Operations of NAFDAC, stressed the importance of this action and promised that the apprehended individuals would be thoroughly investigated.

He also emphasized NAFDAC’s commitment to completely eliminate counterfeit products from the national territory. The counterfeit cosmetics in question are valued at a market value of N35 million, highlighting the scale of the problem.

Despite the efforts made by NAFDAC at the various entry points of the country, smugglers still manage to illegally introduce these products into the market. This raises questions about border security and the need for stronger controls to protect consumers.
