The handball Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo shone during their first match of the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana. Against the cheetahs of Benin, the Congolese offered a solid performance by winning with a score of 37-31.
In an intense match, the Congolese ambassadors were able to maintain a constant lead to finally win with a six-goal gap. This victory demonstrates the ambitions of the Congolese team, despite an obvious lack of preparation. Under the direction of their coach Francis Tuzolana, Gauthier Mvumbi’s teammates aspire to leave their mark on these African Games.
The next challenge for the handball Leopards will be against the host country, Ghana, on Friday March 15, as part of group B. A meeting which promises to be thrilling and decisive for the rest of the competition.
This first victory for the Leopards handball demonstrates their determination and their potential to go far in this competition. We will closely follow their journey and we hope that they will continue to shine on the pitch. Go Leopards!
