The devastation of the Teke-Yaka conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to have devastating consequences on many families. A recent survey conducted by the Protestant Diakonia Development Service of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) reveals the extent of population displacements and the dire needs facing these communities.
According to testimonies collected by Pastor Bryan Purish, families affected by the clashes find themselves in a very precarious situation, deprived of the resources necessary to meet their most basic needs. Whether in Kikwit or Masina, displaced families are forced to abandon everything to flee the violence, leaving their means of subsistence behind.
Beyond the urgency of meeting vital needs for food and shelter, Pastor Purish also emphasizes the importance of supporting these families in relaunching their economic activities. Many of them seek to create income opportunities, whether in Kinshasa or elsewhere, in order to rebuild some semblance of stability for their families.
Faced with this humanitarian crisis, it is essential to mobilize resources and initiatives to provide meaningful support to the victims of the Teke-Yaka conflict. Solidarity and mutual aid are essential to support these families in their reconstruction and reintegration into daily life.
Together, let’s ensure that these voices broken by war can regain hope and dignity, and that peace can finally be established lastingly in this region ravaged by conflicts.
