The mystery of the electoral results in Tanganyika: manual counting vs electronic voting

Fatshimetrie is in turmoil today, as new revelations shake the political world of Tanganyika province. A complex election case raises questions about the integrity of the democratic process, highlighting contradictions between the results of manual counting and those of electronic voting.

At the heart of this controversy is Ramazani Masudi Kilele, a candidate declared elected during the manual counting of votes in Kalemie. According to the minutes of the local Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Ramazani Masudi Kilele obtained 3 votes, placing him among the 4 elected senators from Tanganyika. However, things took an unexpected turn when the results of the electronic vote, published in Kinshasa by the central CENI, indicated only 2 votes in favor.

This disparity in results led to the exclusion of Ramazani Masudi Kilele from the list of elected officials, in favor of Lulu Kitenge from the ANB group. Although the latter also received 2 votes, he was chosen due to his older age, in accordance with the electoral law.

This situation caused confusion among voters and observers, calling into question the legitimacy of the electoral process. The CENI Tanganyika provincial executive secretary stressed the importance of manual voting results, saying the electoral law gives priority to the latter over electronic voting results. This statement sparked heated debates about the reliability and transparency of the electronic voting system.

Ramazani Masudi Kilele, the aggrieved candidate, expressed confidence in the process of restoration of his rights by the CENI. However, the incident highlights the challenges faced by electoral bodies in conducting free and fair elections.

Ultimately, this complex electoral matter highlights the importance of vigilant oversight during electoral processes and the need to ensure the transparency and integrity of these processes to ensure the legitimacy of elected representatives. Fatshimetrie remains on alert as this case continues to develop, highlighting the ongoing challenges facing Congolese democracy.
