Congolese youth mobilize for peace: A cry of solidarity in Berlin

Citizen mobilization and awareness of international issues are key elements in defending human rights and world peace. In Berlin, on Saturday March 23, 2024, the Congolese diaspora set an example by organizing a demonstration against the aggression of the Rwandan army and the AFC-M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

At the initiative of Eloge Ngenibungi Milolo, a young Congolese girl of 18 years old full of determination, hundreds of young Congolese gathered despite the cold and the rain to express their indignation in front of the Rwandan embassy. The signs proclaimed poignant slogans: “Stop this genocide”, “Don’t finance this war”, “10 million deaths are enough”, “Free the Congo”. These powerful words reflect the anger and pain felt at the violence and imperialism plaguing the region.

This mobilization in Berlin resonates as a cry of solidarity and a call for justice for the Congolese people, victims of decades of conflict and foreign interference. By denouncing the aggression of the Rwandan army and demanding an end to the violence, these young demonstrators remind the entire world of the urgency of protecting the civilian population and promoting peace in the Great Lakes region.

This courageous initiative shows that Congolese youth refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice and that they are ready to mobilize to defend the values of freedom, dignity and respect for human rights. By coming together to demonstrate peacefully, these young people are demonstrating their commitment to a better future for their country and their continent.

Beyond the pouring rain and the cold, it was the flame of hope and resistance that animated this demonstration in Berlin. The solidarity and determination of young Congolese are a source of inspiration for all those who believe in a fairer and more humane world. By uniting their voices and strengths, these young people have shown that solidarity and courage can reverse injustice and pave the way for a future of peace and prosperity for all.
