**New primary schools inaugurated in the DRC for a more promising future**
A glimmer of hope shines over the Democratic Republic of Congo as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Fragile States Implementation Unit (CEFF) recently opened the doors to seven new public primary schools within the ambitious framework of the Local Development Program for 145 territories (PDL-145 T). This innovative project aims to transform basic education in key regions of the country, thus providing a more promising future for Congolese youth.
The provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu, South Ubangi and Kongo-Central have all benefited from this school construction program. Indeed, the territories of Libenge and Mobayi–Mbongo had the privilege of receiving two schools each, while the remaining schools were allocated to the territories of Kungu and Muanda.
This initiative represents much more than a simple act of philanthropy. It embodies the cornerstone on which the future development of the DRC will be based. With a focus on education, UNDP and CEFF are investing in the country’s human capital, ensuring that younger generations are well-equipped to face the challenges ahead.
UNDP underlined the importance of this progress in the broader context of the Local Development Program for 145 territories. By building these new schools, the Congolese government is demonstrating its commitment to the education and well-being of its population. This vision of President Félix Tshisekedi translates into tangible actions that strengthen the social and economic fabric of the country.
At the same time, 32 other schools are being finalized and will soon be ready to welcome students. These structures represent not only buildings, but learning spaces conducive to the development of children, teachers and the entire educational community.
Indeed, these achievements add to the already considerable effort undertaken since the implementation of free primary education in the DRC. The 1,048 schools previously built demonstrate the government’s desire to give every Congolese child the chance to receive a quality education, regardless of their place of residence.
In conclusion, the new schools inaugurated in the DRC are much more than just buildings. They reflect a common ambition, that of offering a better future to future generations. Through investment in education, the country is equipping itself with the tools necessary to prosper and break the vicious cycle of poverty. This progress is another step towards a brighter future for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
