As part of the political consultations in the Democratic Republic of Congo in March 2024, Augustin Kabuya, secretary general of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), led an important mission as an informant for the president Felix Tshisekedi. After more than a month of work, he closed his consultations and is preparing to submit his conclusions to the Head of State.
During his last day of consultations, Kabuya met with a delegation from the Congo Liberation Movement (MLC) and its Allies, led by Deputy Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Minister of National Defense. This informant mission allowed Augustin Kabuya to determine the parliamentary majority supporting President Tshisekedi for the formation of the next government.
After having exchanged with various political actors, Kabuya must now submit all the conclusions of his consultations to Félix Tshisekedi. The latter will be responsible for choosing the next Prime Minister for the formation of the government.
By extending his mission for a second phase, Augustin Kabuya also had discussions with members of the parliamentary majority who participated in the first consultations. These exchanges aim to ensure that the future government can count on solid support in Parliament.
These political consultations are crucial to defining the country’s political direction and ensuring effective governance for the coming years. President Tshisekedi’s decision in the choice of Prime Minister is of great importance for the stability and development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
