Intensive Workshop for Herbal Medicine Manufacturers: A Step Forward in Abeokuta

An intensive training workshop for herbal medicine manufacturers in Abeokuta has garnered significant attention in the realm of alternative medicine. Spearheaded by Dr. Kafayat Lawal, the Executive Secretary of OGAMB, this event aims to establish standardized practices within the herbal medicine industry in Ogun state, ultimately enhancing its credibility and efficacy.

Highlighting the importance of standardization in alternative medicine, Dr. Lawal, in collaboration with NAFDAC, is dedicated to formulating strategies that will not only promote indigenous medicinal practices but also boost the state’s revenue.

During the workshop, Professor Alfred Jaiyesinmi from Olabisi Onabanjo University emphasized key elements crucial to herbal medicine manufacturing, including hygiene, proper dosage, patient monitoring, and adherence to government regulations. He stressed the necessity of investing in medicinal plant plantations to safeguard against their depletion.

Dr. Olu Adeola, representing the Commonwealth Traditional Healers Association, commended the government’s support for advancing alternative medicines and advocated for regulatory interventions to ensure adherence to NAFDAC production standards.

Participants, including influential figures like Oba Isegun Obada-Oko, Chief Sunday Ololade, and Dr. Adesina Odugbemi, National President of the Ewedayepo Traditional Healers Association, expressed gratitude towards the government and OGAMB for hosting this initiative.

This intensive training workshop signifies a significant leap towards enhancing the quality and safety of herbal medicine products in Abeokuta. Through collaborative efforts with regulatory bodies and industry experts, OGAMB is actively contributing to the growth and legitimacy of alternative medicine practices in the region.
