Egypt is making waves as a prominent global sports hub due to its robust development policies aimed at enhancing the country’s infrastructure, particularly in the sports industry. This strategic direction, driven by presidential directives, has positioned Egypt as a top contender for hosting major tournaments and high-profile sporting events, as highlighted by Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi.
The nation’s investment in world-class sports infrastructure has already resulted in hosting 422 international, continental, and Arab tournaments, leading to significant sporting and tourism revenues. Minister Sobhi proudly announced Egypt’s top ranking in the global sports impact index at the Arab and African levels, out of 608 countries worldwide. Egyptian athletes have excelled in recent international, continental, and Arab championships, securing over 3,430 medals.
Furthermore, Egypt’s Paralympic athletes have also achieved remarkable success with 584 medals won by 350 participants in various tournaments. Minister Sobhi emphasized President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s unwavering support for Egyptian athletes, both financially and morally.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports is actively fostering strong connections between the government and athletes to elevate the sports industry in Egypt, home to 24 African sports federations and 15 Arab sports federations. Egypt’s commitment to propelling its sports infrastructure and empowering its athletes demonstrates its emergence as a major player in the global sports arena.
