“Rail collision in Egypt: the locomotive out of control, a crucial safety reminder”

Recent news in Egypt was marked by an incident involving a locomotive which collided with train number 15 linking Cairo to Alexandria, near the village of Arab Raml, in the governorate of Menoufia. Fortunately, this accident did not cause any casualties.

The tension was palpable among the passengers, who rushed to either side of the platform to reach safety.

According to an official source reported by the Masrawy information site, the driver of the locomotive lost consciousness, thus causing a loss of control of it. This allegedly led to the locomotive mistakenly crossing the barrier and traffic light, causing it to collide with the rear of the train traveling from Cairo to Alexandria.

Fortunately, the specialists managed to regain control of the locomotive, and the train en route to Alexandria suffered no damage. The passengers were able to resume their journey in complete safety.

The locomotive driver received first aid at the Quesna General Hospital. Egyptian National Railways authorities and security officials visited the scene of the accident. They decided to transport the locomotive to Quesna station for a thorough inspection and the writing of a technical report on its condition.

This incident reminds us of the importance of rail safety and driver vigilance. Hopefully, additional measures will be taken to prevent such accidents in the future.
