The nominations for the AMVCAs were revealed Sunday evening, creating a wave of excitement among movie fans. The hit film “A Tribe Called Judah” nabbed five nominations, confirming its status as a favorite, but some key players were left out, sparking disappointment from fans.
Among them, Achufusi, who, despite his remarkable performance, was overshadowed. This decision caused an uproar among fans, who also denounced the absence of Chimezie Imo for his notable role in “Breath of Life”, as well as that of Tobi Makinde, Achufusi’s playing partner.
The latter’s reaction on social networks was quick. On Twitter, he expressed his dissatisfaction, regretting that his omission had not aroused as much indignation as those of his colleagues. He highlighted his involvement in two of the most popular films of the year and wondered what else Imo and Makinde had to mobilize the crowds.
“A Tribe Called Judah” nominations went to Funke Akindele for Best Actress, Timini Egbuson for Best Supporting Actor, Feyisayo Oyebisi for Best Makeup, as well as Akindele, Collins Okoh and Akinlabi Ishola for Best Screenplay. This drama was also nominated for Best Film, in competition with other quality productions such as “Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti”, “Breath of Life”, “Over the Bridge”, “Blood Vessel”, where we finds Achufusi, “The Black Book” and “Mami Wata”.
This year promises to be intense for the AMVCAs, with fierce competition between quality films and talented actors. Fans are hoping that their favorites will be recognized at the main ceremony in May, providing well-deserved legitimacy to these captivating cinematic works.
