The devastating impact of pulmonary tuberculosis continues to be felt globally, with millions of lives at stake. March 24 was observed as World Tuberculosis Day, aiming to raise awareness of this epidemic and promote actions to eradicate it.
Under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB”, this 2024 edition highlights the possibility of putting an end to this scourge. Commissioner Kwara stressed the importance of diagnosing all cases and providing adequate treatment, stressing that only treatment of all active cases can break the chain of TB transmission.
Collaboration between the government and partners makes it possible to offer free diagnosis and treatment to patients with tuberculosis. The Kwara Governor, represented by the Managing Director of the Ajike People Support Centre, pledged to eliminate tuberculosis and promote a healthy society.
Kwara residents are encouraged to report suspected cases of tuberculosis in their community to reduce the risk of the disease spreading. The public health director emphasizes the importance of supporting the administration’s health efforts to help reduce the spread of tuberculosis, echoing this year’s theme “Yes! We Can End TB.”
Community awareness and collaboration are essential to fight TB and protect the health of all. Together we can end this disease and deliver a healthier future for Kwara and beyond.
