The recent opening of the first bamboo toothpick manufacturing factory in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, marks a significant step forward in the country’s industrial sector. This initiative, led by Everything Services, is part of an approach aimed at strengthening national production and reducing dependence on imports.
The establishment of this factory is also part of a broader context of industrial development, illustrated by the creation of the Kin Malebo Special Economic Zone dedicated to wood processing. This project is thus aligned with the government’s objectives aimed at promoting industrialization and stimulating entrepreneurship in the country.
During the inauguration of the factory, the ministers of Industry and Entrepreneurship underlined the strategic importance of this initiative for the Congolese economy. The government is committed to supporting the development of the factory by providing financial incentives and facilitating access to additional financing to increase its production capacity.
Furthermore, measures have been taken to encourage more private initiatives and support local entrepreneurs. A recent memorandum of understanding between the Industry Promotion Fund and the Entrepreneurship Guarantee Fund in Congo was put in place to facilitate the financing of projects without prior guarantee, demonstrating the government’s desire to promote entrepreneurship.
This approach towards economic self-sufficiency is part of the DRC’s Industrialization Master Plan, which aims to strengthen the consumption of local products and improve the competitiveness of national companies on the international market. This initiative demonstrates the Congolese government’s desire to promote economic development and growth of the industrial sector.
