“REGIDESO: A decisive step towards ensuring a sustainable drinking water supply in Kinshasa”

In order to meet the growing needs for drinking water supply in the city of Kinshasa, the Water Distribution Authority (REGIDESO) has announced an ambitious program to renew its distribution pipe network. This initiative, unveiled on the occasion of World Water Day celebrated on March 22, aims to replace the more than 6,000 kilometers of aging pipes which pose a problem in many districts of the Congolese capital.

Faced with this urgent situation, REGIDESO made the strategic decision to build its own pipe manufacturing factory in Kinshasa, in the Maluku Special Economic Zone. This initiative will help avoid excessive costs associated with the importation of pipes and meet water supply needs in the region more efficiently.

Thanks to this future production plant, which promises to be one of the largest in Central Africa, REGIDESO will not only be able to cover the needs of Kinshasa, but also supply other regions of the country. An important step to ensure reliable and sustainable access to drinking water for a greater number of Congolese citizens.

Indeed, the obsolescence of water distribution pipes is the cause of many problems, such as leaks and obstructions, impacting the quality of life of many residents of Kinshasa. This modernization of the distribution network will not only help improve access to drinking water, but also guarantee its quality and availability for years to come.

By investing in this essential infrastructure, REGIDESO demonstrates its commitment to the well-being of citizens and its concern to respond to the current challenges in terms of water supply in the Democratic Republic of Congo. An initiative which, it is hoped, will pave the way for more efficient and sustainable management of water resources in the country.
