“Women Leaders in Action: Mutual Aid and Solidarity in the Service of the Displaced in Goma”

Today, a gesture of mutual aid and solidarity warmed the hearts of thousands of families displaced from the Mabanga site, in the Lac Vert district, in Goma. Indeed, a group of women engaged in prayer for the Congolese nation, called women leaders, went to meet these displaced people to provide them with valuable assistance.

This act of generosity resulted in the distribution of bags of beans, rice, cans, tarpaulins, loincloths, clothing and medicine. Support which was greatly appreciated by these families who had to flee their homes due to clashes linked to the M23 in the Sake-Bweremana region, in Masisi territory.

Eve Bazaiba, spokesperson for this group of women leaders, stressed the importance of bringing some comfort to these destitute civilian populations affected by the tragic events they had to face. Living conditions are precarious for these displaced people, who lack everything, water to drink, shelter, food, and even sanitary facilities.

After visiting the Mabanga displaced persons camp, the women went to meet orphanages in the region before ending their day at the Charité maternal hospital, where they offered their assistance to people in precarious situations.

Under the leadership of Eve Bazaiba Masudi, Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development, these women leaders showed their humanitarian commitment and their desire to bring some comfort and hope to the most vulnerable people in society.

This initiative is a great example of solidarity and compassion, reminding us that in difficult times, it is by uniting and supporting each other that we can overcome challenges.
