“Criminal trespass and theft: Malachi sentenced to 17 months in prison in Abuja”

In a recent court case in Abuja, Malachi received 17 months’ imprisonment in a detention center. This decision was made by Justice Malam Aliyu Kagarko of the Lugbe Grade 1 Magistrate’s Court, following Malachi’s conviction for criminal trespass and theft.

The victim, Zamai Yuzu, of LEA Primary School, Iddo Abuja, arrested and took the culprit to Iddo Police Station on March 5. According to prosecutor Steven Osho, Malachi criminally entered the school grounds on March 4, stealing 57 ceiling fans and two DVD players, worth an undetermined value. During police questioning, the culprit confessed to the facts, which led to the recovery of four ceiling fans.

Justice Kagarko granted the defendant the option to pay a fine of ₦50,000, while warning him against repeat offenses. Although he benefited from a certain leniency due to his collaboration with the authorities, the consequences of his actions remain significant.

This case highlights the importance of respecting the law and the property of others. It also reminds us that criminal acts do not go unpunished. Hopefully this conviction serves as a lesson to Malachi and deters others from committing similar offenses.
