The world of French gastronomy was once again shaken by an exceptional announcement during the 2024 Michelin Guide ceremony. This year, the event took a particularly remarkable turn with the consecration of Fabien Ferré, chef of La Table du Castellet, located in the Var. At just 35 years old, Fabien Ferré achieved the rare feat of being awarded three stars in one go, becoming the youngest chef to reach this prestigious level.
The restaurant La Table du Castellet, attached to a luxurious five-star hotel between Toulon and Marseille, was previously run by the famous chef Christophe Bacquié, also three-starred. Fabien Ferré has been able to highlight the Provençal terroir through creative and refined cuisine, highlighting local products with unique flavor combinations.
Among Chef Ferré’s signature dishes, we can mention langoustine with rhubarb, a real delight for the taste buds. Its cuisine highlights the richness of Provence products, enhanced by skillfully crafted sauces and juices. Each plate tells a story and celebrates the region’s marine and plant terroir, offering an unforgettable gastronomic experience to guests.
Besides Fabien Ferré, another big name in French gastronomy distinguished itself during this ceremony: Jérôme Banctel, chef of the restaurant Le Gabriel in Paris, also obtained his third star, thus joining the very restricted circle of triple-starred chefs . These two new winners enrich the prestigious list of exceptional gastronomic addresses in France.
This edition of the 2024 Michelin Guide also highlighted new talents, with the awarding of eight new stars for exceptional restaurants across the country. Among them, Eugénie Beziat, chef of Espadon at the Ritz, stood out with innovative African touches in her cuisine, thus winning her first star.
In total, the Michelin Guide now recommends 639 starred restaurants in France, reflecting the diversity and richness of French gastronomy. Despite the criticisms and controversies surrounding the red guide, it remains an essential reference in the world of haute cuisine, highlighting the exceptional work of chefs and establishments who promote French gastronomy.
This 2024 edition will remain marked by the recognition of Fabien Ferré and Jérôme Banctel, two talented chefs who fly the flag of French gastronomy. A ceremony rich in emotions and culinary discoveries which testifies to the dynamism and creativity of the chefs of our dear region.
