“Spiritual renewal and pious practice: The spiritual dimension of Ramadan revealed by religious leaders”

**A reflection on spirituality during Ramadan**

During the recent annual Ramadan conference organized by the Igbomina-Ekiti Muslim Association in Ilorin, Chief Imam Abdulkadir addressed several crucial topics related to the practice of fasting and Muslim spirituality. The Imam pointed out that, according to experts in Islamic jurisprudence, it is possible for women to delay their menstrual cycle in order to fast during the holy month of Ramadan, provided their health is not compromised. He recalled that Islam adapts to all situations and that the fast of Ramadan is prescribed by Allah for the purposes of health and spiritual renewal.

Abdulkadir warned worshipers against adopting cultural practices contrary to Islam, such as shouting Allah’s name in vain, stressing that respect for divine teachings is essential to draw closer to Allah. He also highlighted the importance of reading the Quran during Ramadan, emphasizing that this month is dedicated to the recitation and meditation of the sacred verses.

On his part, the National President of the Association, Alhaji Nasuredeen Ibrahim, encouraged Muslims to express gratitude to Allah in all circumstances, stressing that fasting in Ramadan is a way of renewing one’s faith and strengthening one’s spiritual connection. He insisted that the current period of economic challenges in Nigeria is an opportune time to draw closer to Allah and seek his guidance.

The Igbomina-Ekiti Muslim Association, founded 30 years ago, aims to promote unity and solidarity among the people of the region. Reminding everyone of the power of spirituality and gratitude, these words resonate as a welcome reminder of the deeper meaning of Ramadan and the strength of the Muslim community.

In a society beset by multiple challenges, it is refreshing to hear messages of peace, unity and piety. May everyone find comfort and inspiration in the practice of fasting and recitation of the Quran during this blessed month of Ramadan.
