He began by explaining: “It was not trivial. I have an enlarged prostate. I have always been fit, but in July 2019 I started having difficulty urinating. I went at the hospital I was prescribed medication and after tests I was informed that my prostate was about to block. My doctor recommended that I go to his main hospital where an attempt was made made to insert something into my penis, without success.”
He then spoke about the emotional moment when he informed his wife, recovering from a stroke since 2017, of his diagnosis and upcoming surgeries. He revealed that despite her own doubts about how the surgery would go, she broke down in tears out of fear, and he reassured her.
The actor detailed the surgical procedures to which he was subjected: one to facilitate urination, and another which made him impotent. “I had an abdominal incision made to help me urinate. This was vital to avoid immediate death. I was also recommended another surgery to stop my sexual functions. Having already grown children, I had it accepted,” he explained.
He went on to confess his regret over the surgery that prevents him from urinating naturally and revealed that actress Foluke Daramola knew about his health, asking him to keep his illness a secret.
