“Summons to the prosecution: what political future for Gentiny Ngobila and Charles Mbutamuntu?”

Today, February 22, 2024, will mark a decisive day for Gentiny Ngobila, outgoing governor of the city of Kinshasa, and his secretary general Charles Mbutamuntu. Indeed, the two politicians are summoned to the general prosecutor’s office at the Court of Cassation for reasons which will be notified to them on site.

National deputy candidates in Funa and Mont-Amba respectively, the votes of Gentiny Ngobila and Charles Mbutamuntu were canceled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni) for proven cases of electoral fraud, a decision which was ratified by the Constitutional Court.

Faced with this delicate situation, Governor Ngobila and Minister Mbutamuntu will have to appear at Firmin Mvonde Mambu this Thursday to answer the accusations against them.
