“Moving tribute: the SANDF pays tribute to two heroes who fell in North Kivu”

The South African National Defense Force (SANDF) recently honored Captain Simon Mkhulu Bobe and Master Corporal Irven Thabang Semono in a moving ceremony at Waterkloof Air Force Base. This military procession, marked by the presence of high dignitaries, allowed us to pay a final tribute to these brave soldiers.

These two soldiers tragically lost their lives during a mission in North Kivu, where a mortar bomb hit their military base. Their sacrifice was commended by the Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Thandi Modise, as well as other SANDF officials. The loss of these two soldiers has deeply affected their families and the entire military community.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Democratic Republic of Congo expressed his condolences to the South African authorities and the families of the deceased soldiers. He stressed the importance of cooperation between SADC forces deployed in the region to guarantee security for all.
