At the annual conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) held in Minna, the Niger State capital, the speech by the representative of President Idris attracted keen interest. The theme of the conference, entitled “Public Relations in a Challenging Environment: The Role of Actors and Communication in the New Dynamics of Niger”, highlighted recent efforts made to face current challenges.
The representative stressed that concrete measures were being taken to improve the situation. He mentioned that the President had directed the National Security Advisor (NSA), DSS (Department of State Services) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to coordinate with state governors to monitor the activities of people who stockpile of foodstuffs in order to guarantee price stabilization.
He commended the initiative of Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, for taking timely measures to stop the bulk purchase of food items for stockpiling. The move contributed to a recent decline in the cost of food in the state.
The representative also highlighted the efforts made by the President over the past seven months to revive the economy, combat insecurity, attract foreign direct investments and strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy in the international arena.
This discussion at NIPR highlighted the importance of measures taken to ensure economic stability and combat harmful practices such as food speculation. This dialogue between government officials and public relations professionals illustrates the country’s commitment to overcoming current challenges and promoting sustainable development.
