During his recent meeting with Ify Ogbudu, Zone B Coordinator of the Customs Service, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, expressed gratitude for the efforts made by the Customs Service to protect the economic integrity of the country despite the many challenges it faces.
He highlighted the importance of community engagement and awareness to prevent crimes, and stressed the importance of maintaining diligence and compassion towards local traders who may be acting out of ignorance. The Emir also praised the progress made in reducing conflicts between traders and customs officials through constructive dialogues.
On his part, Ify Ogbudu assured of the commitment of the Customs Service to support the distribution of the 42,000 tonnes of grains approved by the Federal Government for those in need. She sought the Emir’s support for the Customs Service’s efforts in combating poverty and ensuring food security in the country.
The Emir pledged to support legitimate trade and encouraged customs officers to continue serving the nation with dedication. He stressed the importance of collaboration between different stakeholders to ensure smooth movement of goods while respecting the rules and regulations in force.
