The “Voix d’Afriques” literary prize, a prestigious award created by RFI and JC Lattès editions in partnership with the Cité Internationale des arts in Paris, this year honored Nincemon Fallé, a young 22-year-old Ivorian author for his first novel. entitled These fiery suns.
Nincemon Fallé, originally from Bondoukou, a town located in the northeast of Ivory Coast, always had the dream of winning the “Voix d’Afriques” Prize, but he did not dare to submit his manuscript until here. Coming from a family of four children, he began writing as a teenager, but waited patiently for his text to reach a satisfactory level of quality before presenting it. His determination and quest for perfection pushed him to submit his manuscript only a few minutes before registration closed, thus jeopardizing his participation. After months of waiting, the long-awaited news finally arrived: Nincemon Fallé was chosen from hundreds of candidates.
The “Voices of Africa” Prize is aimed at young African authors aged 18 to 30, writing in French, who aspire to see their first novel published in France by JC Lattès. This initiative aims to encourage the emergence of new literary talents on the continent.
Inspired by the success of Yaya Diomandé, the first winner of the “Voix d’Afriques” Prize, Nincemon Fallé found in himself the necessary motivation to believe in his chances of publication. His novel, These ardent suns, explores the doubts and hopes of two young Ivorian students facing an uncertain future, while addressing universal themes such as family, traditions and intergenerational relationships.
After winning the prize, Nincemon Fallé will receive his award on March 20 at the French Institute of Cameroon, during the international day of the French language. His novel will be available from JC Lattès editions from the same day. For the young author, this recognition opens new horizons not only for him, but also for all young Ivorian writers, demonstrating that it is now possible to be published and read both locally and internationally.
In this literary success story, Nincemon Fallé embodies the new generation of talented African writers, ready to conquer the world of literature with their pen and their creativity.
