“The CENI in action for transparent legislative elections in Yakoma: towards a strengthened democracy”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) is actively mobilizing for the reorganization of the legislative elections in the Yakoma constituency (North-Ubangi). A CENI delegation is currently on site to carry out the necessary preparations.

According to Paul Muhindo, CENI rapporteur, the objective of this mission is to ensure the conditions for organizing the polls and to monitor the progress of the preparations. It underlines the importance of ensuring transparent and peaceful elections, free from fraud and violence.

Paul Muhindo calls for the civic-mindedness of voters and candidates, emphasizing the importance for the population to elect representatives worthy of their trust. It also highlights the need to protect electoral materials to ensure the smooth running of the vote.

It is essential to recall that the previous elections in the Yakoma constituency were canceled due to proven cases of fraud, thus confirming the concerns of the CENI regarding the transparency of future polls.

This desire displayed by the CENI to guarantee fair and equitable elections is an important step towards strengthened democracy and better representativeness of citizens. The coming weeks will be decisive in ensuring the success of these legislative elections and restoring voters’ confidence in the democratic process.
