The second Vice-President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Didi Manara, recently visited Masimanimba as part of an exploratory mission aimed at reorganizing elections in this region. The objective is to remedy the irregularities observed during the general elections of December 2023 in order to allow the local population to express their choice in a fair and transparent manner.
During his visit, Didi Manara met the territorial administrator to discuss the conditions necessary for the resumption of the canceled polls. He stressed the need to confront fraudulent practices that marred the electoral process, such as corruption and illegal possession of electronic voting devices. The CENI is committed to acting to clean up the electoral environment in Masimanimba and guarantee credible and reliable elections.
The reorganization of elections in Masimanimba follows the cancellation of the December 2023 national and provincial legislative elections in this region, as well as in other constituencies. The CENI’s approach aims to restore citizens’ confidence in the democratic process and guarantee the integrity of electoral results.
This initiative demonstrates the CENI’s commitment to transparent and fair elections, and constitutes an important step towards the consolidation of democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The population of Masimanimba will thus be able to exercise their right to vote in complete freedom and elect their representatives with complete legitimacy.
This exploratory mission of the CENI to Masimanimba demonstrates the desire of the electoral authorities to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and the satisfaction of democratic requirements. The reorganization of elections in this region is a positive signal for the future of democracy in the DRC.
