“DRC: The race of ministers towards the National Assembly before the 8-day deadline”

On the eve of the expiration of the 8-day period granted to members of the government elected deputies to decide between their executive and legislative functions, the Congolese political scene is in full turmoil. POLITICO.CD noted that several ministers have already made their decision.

Among those who opted to sit in the National Assembly, we find prominent figures such as Vital Kamerhe, Jean-Pierre Lihau, Antipas Mbusa and Crispin Mbadu. They formally submitted their letter of resignation in order to concentrate on their parliamentary role.

Other members of the government, such as Claudine Ndusi and Pius Muabilu, also chose to join the hemicycle. In all, around thirty ministers are affected by this decision to be taken before the midnight deadline.

The last important news concerns Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, who resigned, leading to the dissolution of the entire government. However, at the request of President Tshisekedi, the outgoing team will continue to manage current affairs.

Interestingly, according to law professor and National MP, Gary Sakata, there is no provision in the Constitution requiring members of government to resign to exercise their parliamentary mandate.

This constantly evolving political situation shows the complexity of the issues in the DRC and highlights the importance of individual choices in the political landscape. The coming days will therefore be crucial for the consolidation of the Congolese political landscape.
