“Beneath the apparent calm, ADF terror resurfaces in Bandibongo: thirteen dead in brutal attacks”

When calm seems to settle, violence resurfaces in the Bandibongo group, Irumu territory. A double ADF attack killed thirteen people and left eight others seriously injured. These abuses took place in the chiefdom of Banyali Tchabi and the village of Bandibongo Siya, sowing terror and destruction in their wake.

The gruesome details reveal that the victims are mainly pygmy women, found helpless in their own homes. The attacks, of unprecedented violence, led to the death of ten people in the village of Bandibongo Siya, with two others injured, and three people killed in the chiefdom of Banyali Tchabi, with five others injured. In addition, fifteen houses were burned, causing heavy material losses for residents of the region.

Faced with this alarming situation, the military forces reacted quickly by repelling the attackers and protecting the civilian populations. However, the NGO Convention for the Respect of Human Rights (CRDH) highlights the need to identify and bring to justice the people who still collaborate with these rebels, thus contributing to perpetuating these senseless acts of violence.

These recent attacks are a reminder of the fragility of the security situation in certain regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, despite efforts made to ensure the protection of civilians. It is crucial to remain vigilant and continue actions aimed at eradicating these armed groups and guaranteeing the security of all citizens.
