The delegation of the Collective of Women’s Associations for Development (CAFED) of North Kivu is currently in Kinshasa to advocate for their integration in the next political appointments at various levels. This delegation, made up of women leaders and candidates not elected during the legislative elections of December 2023 in the Butembo-Beni-Lubero region, seeks to meet the leaders of political parties to defend their rights.
Patience Sinamuli, representative of CAFED, emphasizes that these women took risks by campaigning in very unstable areas, but were not declared elected despite having obtained significant votes. The collective emphasizes the importance of supporting these ambitious women who have already proven their political commitment.
The objective is to support these women so that they can fully participate in the political life of the country and no longer see the same clans occupy decision-making positions. CAFED calls for better representation of women in the political sphere for greater diversity and better inclusion.
This advocacy approach demonstrates the ongoing fight for gender equality and the participation of women at all levels of governance. Encouraging and supporting these budding female politicians is essential to ensure a more equitable and democratic society.
