“Martin Fayulu implores the African Union to act against the destabilization of Congo by Rwanda and Uganda”

Martin Fayulu, a leading figure in the Congolese opposition, recently launched an urgent appeal to the African Union to strongly condemn Rwanda and Uganda, accused of destabilizing the Democratic Republic of Congo. In a press release dated February 15 and released on February 19, he underlined the urgency for the AU to put in place a mechanism aimed at putting an end to the hostilities perpetrated by the M23, an armed group supported by the Rwandan army.

This political activist claims that millions of Congolese lives have been taken in this unconventional conflict, without a clear condemnation being formulated by the African Union. He insists on the need to find solutions concerning the Rwandan FDLR and Ugandan ADF rebel groups, in order to allow their transfer out of Congolese territory, thus putting an end to the Rwandan and Ugandan military presence in the DRC.

In a context marked by an acute social crisis, the impoverishment of the population, as well as recurring violence and massacres in several Congolese provinces, Martin Fayulu warns of the devastating consequences of this prolonged conflict.

His appeal to the African Union aims to mobilize the continent’s leaders to take concrete measures and put an end to this critical situation which continues to weaken the DRC. This position highlights the crucial importance of strong and coordinated political action to guarantee stability and security in the region.

By calling for solidarity and regional cooperation, Martin Fayulu highlights the need for a collective and united response to the security challenges that threaten peace and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
