“Spectacular seizure in Nigeria: 33.5 kg of drugs hidden in compounds in Lagos”

The fight against drug trafficking is not weakening in Nigeria, as evidenced by the recent spectacular seizure carried out by NDLEA agents at Lagos airport. Indeed, drugs were hidden in gigantic enclosures, arriving from a shipment imported from New York, in the United States.

When officers opened the huge wooden enclosures, camouflaged as loudspeakers, they discovered no fewer than 60 bags of the valuable psychoactive substance Loud, weighing a total of 33.5 kilograms. A significant catch which led to the arrest of three suspects: a freight agent, Akeem Afeez, the director of the logistics company, Babalola Ayodeji, as well as the recipient of the shipment, Taiwo Olusegun.

The operations which led to these arrests took place between Thursday and Friday, with impeccable coordination on the part of the authorities. Afeez was apprehended at the airport, Ayodeji at his office at Allen Avenue Ikeja, and Taiwo Olusegun at his home in Lekki Phase 1.

The President of the NDLEA, retired General Buba Marwa, praised the remarkable work of his teams at the MMIA, highlighting their commitment and effectiveness in the fight against drug trafficking.

This significant seizure is a reminder of the importance of the work of the authorities to counter the illegal drug trade, protect society and ensure the safety of all. A victory in the fight against this scourge which continues to threaten our communities.
