“Emilio Nsue denounces the corruption and dysfunctions of Guinean football: a cry of revolt to change things!”

Emilio Nsue, emblematic figure of Guinean football, was recently suspended by the Equatorial Guinea federation for an indefinite period. Suspended for indiscipline during the recent CAN 2024, Nsue did not hesitate to speak out on social networks to express his dissatisfaction and denounce the serious dysfunctions of football in his country.

In a live Instagram, accompanied by Iban Salvador, another Guinean player suspended for the same reasons, Nsue launched a series of accusations against those responsible for Guinean football. He vehemently denounced the corruption plaguing football in his country, accusing certain leaders of having embezzled a million euros after CAN 2024, money which was supposed to be invested in the development of local football. According to Nsue, this money was never seen and the promises made to the players were never kept.

In addition to corruption, Nsue also deplored the serious management problems and internal tensions that undermine Guinean football. He underlined the difficult situation of the national team, which is nevertheless ranked among the ten best teams on the African continent. The team coach is regularly threatened and blackmailed, while certain members of the technical staff are “snitches” according to Nsue. The latter also revealed that he had been publicly humiliated by Guinean football officials.

Faced with these dysfunctions, Nsue called for change and expressed his determination to fight for his country. He affirmed that the national team is above everything and everyone and declared that he was ready to die for his country. Emilio Nsue has a history linked to Equatorial Guinea, having been born in Mallorca to an Equatorial Guinean father and a Spanish mother. He represented Spain in the youth teams, even winning European titles, before choosing to play for Equatorial Guinea in 2013.

Emilio Nsue’s speech highlights the deep problems in Guinean football and raises questions about transparency and good governance in sport. It also highlights the commitment and determination of certain players to fight against injustices and defend the interests of their national team. Hopefully these denunciations will pave the way for reforms and better management of football in Equatorial Guinea.
