“IFASIC becomes UNISIC: a revolution in Congolese higher education in terms of information and communication”

The evolution of the Faculty Institute of Information and Communication Sciences (IFASIC) into the University of Information and Communication Sciences (UNISIC) marks an important step in the field of higher education in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This decision, officially announced by Rector Jean Kambayi Bwatsha during a session chaired on February 12, 2024, demonstrates recognition of the efforts made by IFASIC to train qualified professionals in the fields of information and communication.

This change, ratified by a ministerial decree, demonstrates the establishment’s desire to meet university requirements and adapt to developments in these rapidly expanding fields. In order to facilitate this transition, an ad-hoc commission was set up to update the structures, training programs and governance of the establishment.

As part of this transfer, Professor Jean Marie Vianney Longonya Okungu Dembe D’ote was appointed to the strategic position of Academic Secretary General. His experience and skills will be major assets in successfully completing this transition phase.

The official announcement of this transfer caused great emotion and pride within the IFASIC community, gathered for the occasion. This recognition demonstrates the reputation of the institute and the quality of the training provided.

UNISIC thus opens new perspectives for students and teachers, by offering study programs adapted to the needs of the job market in the fields of information and communication.

This transformation of IFASIC into UNISIC is a major step forward in the Congolese university landscape and demonstrates the government’s desire to promote excellence in higher education. It is also an opportunity for students to benefit from quality training and prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities of the digital world.

UNISIC has now established itself as a reference in the field of information and communication in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and is becoming a key player in the training of future competent professionals in these constantly evolving sectors. It is a step forward, an opportunity for all those who are passionate about media, communication and new technologies to actively participate in building a promising future in these areas.
