Egypt denies rumors of power cuts during Ramadan
In an official statement, Egyptian government spokesperson Mohamed al-Hommosany denied rumors circulating online regarding a reduction in the time of power cuts during the month of Ramadan. He said there would be no change to the electricity load reduction schedules during this period.
Since July 17, the Egyptian government has implemented a plan to reduce electricity charges in order to cope with an increase in electricity consumption due to intense heat waves across the country. This plan involves cutting electricity across the country to reduce daily consumption, which had reached up to 36 gigawatts.
According to officials of the Ministry of Electricity, this reduction in electricity loads is expected to continue until March due to the reduction in fuel supplies to production plants, in order to favor gas exports during the coming months .
The government spokesperson also clarified that if there is ever a change to the power cut times during the month of Ramadan, it will be officially announced by the Cabinet.
These denials follow the spread of rumors online regarding a reduction in the time of power outages during the Muslim fasting month, causing concern among the population.
It is important to note that power outages in Egypt have been frequent for several years due to problems with electricity production and distribution in the country. These cuts have a significant impact on the daily lives of citizens and are a source of dissatisfaction and discontent.
In conclusion, the Egyptian government has denied rumors about a reduction in the time of power cuts during Ramadan. The plan to reduce electricity charges put in place since July should continue until March. It is essential to remain attentive to official communications to obtain precise information on this subject.
