Results of provincial legislative elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

The results of the provincial legislative elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are finally known. The Sacred Union for the Nation, a political platform supporting re-elected President Félix Tshisekedi, won an overwhelming victory by obtaining 82% of the seats, or 640 out of 780.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) published these provisional results after a long counting and verification process. Of the nearly 40,000 candidates who participated in these elections, 688 provincial deputies were elected.

The presidential party UDPS/Tshisekedi won in 25 provinces of the country, winning nearly 100 seats. Only the province of Kwilu did not grant seats to the presidential party.

The AFDC-A political grouping of Modeste Bahati Lukwebo is positioned in second position with 74 seats, while the A/A-UNC political groups close to Vital Kamerhe occupy third place with around 50 seats.

These results reflect the extent of popular support enjoyed by the political platform of the Sacred Union for the Nation and demonstrate the confidence placed in President Tshisekedi and his political program.

This electoral victory opens the way to a new political era in the DRC, marked by the consolidation of national unity and the strengthening of democratic institutions. The new provincial deputies will have the mission of representing the interests of their respective regions and working in collaboration with the central government for the development and promotion of the well-being of the Congolese population.

It is important to emphasize that these provincial legislative elections were a further step towards the consolidation of democracy in the DRC, testifying to the desire of the Congolese people to actively participate in the political life of their country.

Now that the results are known, it is up to elected officials to take charge of the issues specific to their provinces and to work together to meet the challenges facing the country, particularly on the economic, social and security levels.

This new composition of the provincial parliament also opens up new opportunities for collaboration and dialogue between the country’s different political forces, around a common vision for building a more stable, prosperous and inclusive DRC.

In conclusion, the results of the provincial legislative elections in the DRC reflect the desire of the Congolese people to make positive changes and build a better future for their country. It is now up to elected officials to demonstrate responsibility and dedication in the exercise of their mandate to meet the expectations of the population and contribute to the development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
