“Humanitarian emergency: More than 10,000 displaced people from the Kpawi site in Ituri left to their own devices, urgent mobilization is necessary!”

More than 10,000 displaced people from the Kpawi site, in the Gina group, Djugu territory in Ituri, live in deplorable conditions. According to the president of the site, Télesphore Bakambu, these displaced people are deprived of food, medicine, drinking water and their precarious shelters expose them to bad weather.

For three months, these displaced people survived without any humanitarian assistance. Sanitary facilities are saturated, exposing displaced people to illnesses caused by a lack of hygiene.

Faced with this critical situation, Télesphore Bakambu launched an urgent appeal to the government and humanitarian agencies for food and medical care. It also reported cases of infant mortality over the past year.

These displaced people come from the Nyampala, Tolo, Budi, Lenga and Beliba groups, which have been the target of repeated attacks by armed groups.

It is therefore imperative that the government and humanitarian agencies intervene quickly to meet the basic needs of these displaced people. Food and medical assistance is needed to improve their living conditions and avoid further human losses.

International support is also essential to address this humanitarian crisis. The media and civil society must raise public awareness in order to generate concrete actions to help these displaced people who suffer in silence.

It is time to mobilize collectively to provide emergency humanitarian aid to these displaced people in Kpawi. Every life matters and it is our duty to ensure their safety and well-being. Let’s come together to make their voices heard and give them the support they desperately need.
