The Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior and Security, Peter Kazadi, spoke during the press briefing on the inauguration of Félix Tshisekedi. He reassured that the event would go smoothly in terms of security. Peter Kazadi also addressed the announcement of an opposition march planned for the same day as the inauguration ceremony.

According to Peter Kazadi, the authorities have not been formally notified of this march. He declared: “I called the governor of the city to tell me if he received the letter from the opponents, this is not the case. I think they must have given up on their project to let the people of Kinshasa and the Congolese in general celebrate this good moment of inauguration. I inform the national community that the Kinshasa city hall services have not received any correspondence requesting the organization of a march in the city.”

The Deputy Prime Minister invited the population to take part massively in this investiture ceremony. He stressed that all security arrangements have been taken and that the defense and security forces are on alert. He added that everyone is free to come, provided they submit to the organization of the police.

Government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya advised all Congolese to bring a flag during this ceremony under the theme “All united for the Democratic Republic of Congo”.
