Rebuilding the Democratic Republic of Congo: seizing the opportunity of Félix Tshisekedi’s second term

Félix Tshisekedi’s second term as president of the Democratic Republic of Congo is a crucial opportunity to begin the overhaul and reconstruction of the country. At the heart of this vision is the pressing need to restore democracy, restore security and confront the identity challenges that have hampered the country for decades.

One of the main obstacles to this overhaul is the persistent presence of armed groups which have kept the country in a state of vulnerability and regional imbalance. Therefore, restoring security, both economically and socially, is a fundamental prerequisite for any meaningful progress. Economic, food, energy, productive, military, educational and information security are the essential pillars on which the overhaul of the nation must be based.

In addition, the Democratic Republic of Congo has the necessary potential to achieve autonomy and self-sufficiency in the production of goods necessary for its development. The restoration of this autonomy and sovereignty is essential to free the country from its external dependence and allow it to take control of its own destiny.

Félix Tshisekedi’s second mandate must therefore be that of national ambition, centered on the reconstruction of the nation, the restoration of democracy and the construction of a future where the Congolese people can find hope. This ambitious project will require realistic strategies in all areas, accompanied by a firm commitment to security, autonomy and sovereignty.

The Congolese people must not let the shadows of the past obscure the light of their future. The objective of this new mandate must be a collective dream with a clear deadline. The doors to our common destiny are already open, but only those who dare to push them will have access to a better future. The greatest failure would be to lack the courage to defy bad omens. Let’s dare to be bold!
