The Congolese national police recently announced a large-scale operation which resulted in the arrest of 710 uncivil activists, commonly known as “Kuluna”, in the city of Kinshasa. This operation, carried out in the districts of Tshangu, Lukunga, Funa and Mont-Amba, aimed to fight against the resurgence of insecurity in the Congolese capital, in particular cases of kidnappings and urban banditry.

The police forces, supported by the 14th military region, arrested these individuals during a cordon organized during the night. The neighborhoods of Ngaliema, Mont-Ngafula and Masina were specifically targeted to track down these uncivil people.

Among the individuals arrested, some belong to a stable called “The Americans” and are suspected of being responsible for several attacks, including a recent knife attack. In another neighborhood, members of a stable called “Les Léopards” were apprehended for their alleged involvement in a murder.

A total of 710 people were arrested during this operation, including members of different stables, suspects linked to attacks, as well as corrupt police officers. The operation also helped put an end to a wave of destruction of public property, including the burning of a public transport bus.

The deputy divisional police commissioner stressed that this operation was a firm response to acts of incivility and a demonstration of the commitment of the police to ensuring the safety of citizens. He also called on the population not to panic and to continue to collaborate with the authorities to combat insecurity.

This large-scale operation demonstrates the desire of the Congolese authorities to restore order and guarantee the security of the inhabitants of Kinshasa. It highlights the importance of collaboration between the police and the population to fight against banditry and acts of antisocial behavior.

In summary, the arrest of 710 uncivil people in Kinshasa testifies to the efforts made by the Congolese security forces to fight against insecurity in the capital. This large-scale operation marks significant progress in the fight against acts of violence and demonstrates the determination of the authorities to guarantee the security of citizens.
