“The DRC Leopards, ready to roar at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations!”

The DRC Leopards entered San Pedro (Ivory Coast) on January 12, ready to participate in the final phase of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. After intensive preparation in Abu Dhabi, the Selected players have joined Ivory Coast to prepare for their group matches.

Unfortunately, midfielder Edo Kayembe was forced to withdraw due to a calf injury. He was replaced by Omenuke Mfulu from Las Palmas. This absence does not, however, discourage the Leopards who are determined to defend the colors of their country during this competition.

DRC are based in San Pedro and will face Zambia’s Cipolopolos in their first match on January 17. They will next face the Atlas Lions of Morocco on January 21, before concluding the group stage by facing the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on January 24.

Before their departure, the president of the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA), Dieudonné Sambi, presented the national flag and the team pennant to captain Chancel Mbemba. A symbolic gesture to show that the whole nation is behind the Leopards in this competition.

Dieudonné Sambi also encouraged the players to proudly defend the colors of their country and give their all on the pitch. It is an opportunity for the DRC to shine and show its talent in the world of African football.

Before the start of the CAN, the DRC played two friendly matches against Angola and Burkina Faso, showing their determination and preparation for the competition.

Congolese supporters are also ready to support their team from a distance, hoping that the Leopards will manage to stand out and achieve good performances during this African Cup of Nations.

The tension is at its peak and the excitement is palpable. The DRC Leopards are preparing to face the challenges of CAN 2023 with determination and hope, in the hope of bringing the trophy home. Their journey promises to be exciting and captivating, and all eyes are on these proud representatives of the DRC on the African football scene.
