The escalation of tensions between Lebanon and Israel appears to show no signs of slowing, with Israeli raids targeting Hezbollah sites in Lebanon. At the same time, a cyberattack targeted Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, the source of which remains unknown.
Israeli attacks hit several Hezbollah targets, including a military compound and a missile launch pad. Lebanese media also reported an attack on a car in the town of Khirbet Salam. These raids were accompanied by violent clashes near the town of Aita al-Shaab, causing damage to a nearby mosque.
At the same time, a cyberattack hit Beirut airport, disrupting arrival and departure systems. The hackers broadcast a message criticizing Hezbollah and urging them not to drag Lebanon into a war with Israel. They also accused Hezbollah of being responsible for the devastating Beirut port explosion in 2020.
Lebanese Public Works Minister Ali Hamiyah said the source of the cyberattack remained unknown, but security services were working to identify the person responsible and assess the damage to the network. He stressed the importance of restoring normal operation of the airport as quickly as possible.
These recent incidents highlight the growing tension between Lebanon and Israel, as well as the risks of escalation in the region. Both sides should exercise restraint and seek diplomatic solutions to resolve their differences. The stability of Lebanon and the region depends on it.
It is essential that the international community intervenes to encourage dialogue and promote de-escalation. Violence and cyberattacks will only deepen divisions and prevent any possibility of peace. Lebanon deserves to live in peace and security, and it is everyone’s responsibility to work towards this end.
